Seattle native, Ms. Laurie Roberts has been a lifetime
dance participant and arts enthusiast, having begun ballet classes
at the age of three with Dorothy and Nelle Fisher. She was an originating
company member of Olympic Ballet Theatre (OBT) in Edmonds, WA, where
she studied ballet, jazz, modern, pointe, and partnering with artistic
directors John and Helen Wilkins. She performed extensively throughout
the West Coast at numerous Pacific Regional Ballet Festivals and
for the company’s annual Spring Showcases, full-length Nutcrackers,
holiday Santa Breakfasts, and local exhibition performances and
fundraisers for the Edmonds Arts Festival, Seattle Center and numerous
schools, malls, and churches. She also helped on occasion teaching
with OBT and with collaborative choreography for several Festival
entrant pieces for the Emerging Choreographers Division. During
that time she received a dance scholarship to the Craft of Choreography
Conference in Geneva, NY, where she trained with choreographers
and composers from across the country. She was also a finalist in
a NW talent search.
In recent years, Ms. Roberts has taught aerobic dance and step
aerobics with Mieko’s Fitness Clubs in Seattle/Edmonds and
currently with LA Fitness of Mill Creek, and appeared in two aerobics
videos, both with internationally recognized aerobics professional
Kari Anderson.
Ms. Roberts received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications
from the University of Washington and was the Publicist for the
Seattle Symphony during the opening of Benaroya Hall. Additionally,
she was an intern with Pacific Northwest Ballet’s (PNB) communications
department and served on the board of directors for their Backstage
Pass Group —a young adults’ arts membership affiliation—and
volunteered in other capacities including elementary school education
outreach.
Ms. Roberts currently enjoys being a fulltime mother of 2 young girls (who also love to dance here
with her).
